Dev Instead

Dev Patel seems to be over shadowed by Freida Pinto. Freida is everywhere, even here on my blog. So I decided to do a piece on Dev. This sweet 18 year old, who is taking his mom as his date for the Oscars, has bagged M. Night Shyamalan's next movie ( dunno if that is a good move though)

I really like his style - he is not afraid to use color and all the pieces really go well together. I am so glad he is not sticking to the usual white, black, blues and grays for casual clothing.

Sorry, there is no escaping her. While I like how Dev has matched the color of his bow tie to Freida's dress, I really think he should ditch the bow tie now. It was cute initially, but getting a little tired of it now.

On another note, I like Dev's Burberry tux. As for Freida, I really do love her stylist, ha ha. He is doing a great job with her. Love the shimmery Zac Posen dress, the Jimmy Choo clutch and sandals.

Pink Panther premier in New York

The movie Pink Panther held its first premier in New York. Obviously Aishwarya Rai was there, along with her hubby and Pa (as she calls Amitabh). Also present at the premier was the Slumdog man, no I don't mean Dev Patel, I mean Anil Kapoor.

Ash looks nice ( a bit safe, but better than her earlier disasters) in a black Ferretti dress.

Check out the pink tie on Abhishekh, nice.

My Lara Dutta

Please don't misunderstand - I don't really mean MY Lara Dutta. Lara just launched her official website called mylaradutta.com

Typically, I don't care for grey, think it is kinda dull and dowdy. But I like this dress on Lara and think she carries it off well and really like her cute hair cut.

Lara is one of the better dressed actresses in Bollywood and is usually very elegantly turned out. It is also nice to see many of the younger actresses like Bipasha, Priyanka, Lara etc. going in for shorter and edgier haircuts. Hope the other actresses follow suit and give a break to the old but traditional image of the long haired Indian beauty.

Disappointed again

Although I love the combination of Black and White, I don't really care about Priyanka's outfit at the premier of her ex-boyfriend Harman Baweja movie "Victory".

I really wish she had added some color to the outfit, she looks kinda washed out. Do you agree?

Found her

Kareena Kapoor has been MIA for a while - I guess busy shooting and holiday-ing abroad. It was great to see one of our better dressed stars back in the city.




Although the Roberto Cavalli dress she is wearing is nice, it is not doing anything for Bebo. This is one of those instances where it looks like she got dressed in a hurry. Hope to see some better looks on you soon.

Around Town

Most Desi's that I have come across and most of our stars too, do a good job of dressing up for the evening and for big parties and events. But when it comes to day time or casual wear, it tends to get pretty messed up.

I am enjoying following Freida Pinto, cause most of us can relate to her ethnicity, color and height. And hey she is working with a stylist!!!!!! So I figure the colors and styles that she wears should work on the majority of us. I have a sampling of some of her daytime and casual wear pics. Hopefully, we can pick up a pointer or two.

Color-block

Color-block was a trend that started last year and has continued into this year. You saw many dresses in color-block and several stars sporting them. Now color-block seems to have made its way to Indian garments. First we spotted Sonam wearing an outfit that had three different colors - for chudidar, kurta and dupatta. Now Soha was spotted donning something similar.

I loved the look on Sonam and I think she carried it off real nicely but somehow I do not like it on Soha. To me it looks like she skipped out of a Republic Day theme party and headed to the studios. What do you think?
